Lakers trade rumors: Lakers 'have taken calls' on Roy Hibbert

But they don't intend to buy him out if he isn't moved

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Lakers have not been involved in a lot of trade rumors this year, but most have centered around their veterans, including Lou Williams, Nick Young, Brandon Bass, and Roy Hibbert. Ramona Shelburne of ESPN is reporting that the Lakers 'have taken calls' about Hibbert, but also that they do not intend to buy out the big man if they do not receive an offer for the big man they like.

Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders reported earlier this week that Hibbert might be interested in taking a buy out if the Lakers did not trade him, but for now it sounds like the team will likely retain the seven footer for the last 27 games of the regular season if he is not traded.

Hibbert is having a down year, averaging just 6.6 points and 5.2 rebounds in 24.4 minutes per game, but the team has valued the mentor role he has taken with the team's younger players, and for now it sounds like that will continue for the rest of the year.
