The Los Angeles Lakers look to bounce back from a hard-fought loss to the San Antonio Spurs with Dwyane Wade and the Chicago Bulls visiting Staples Center. The Bulls just played in the building Saturday night, dropping one to the Clippers. Wade, Jimmy Butler and Rajon Rondo all played over 35 minutes.
This situation is the exact scenario where the Lakers’ uptempo style and waves of depth should shine. D’Angelo Russell is considered questionable, but an extended time away to rest what’s only been listed as a sore left knee could lead to his return. He last hit the court on Nov. 15, giving him a good stretch of rest. Expect to hear about his Kentucky ties with Rondo if D’Angelo is good to go.
The Bulls have enjoyed a solid start getting into their new identity, top-10 in both offensive and defensive efficiency. Jimmy Butler is quietly having a fantastic season, averaging a team-high 24 points per game along with 6.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.8 rebounds per game. All while shooting 42.6 percent from deep. Butler is going to be a problem for the Lakers, but that only means it’s an opportunity for the group to learn and grow.
This is an excellent challenge for their perimeter players. How they control the impact of Rondo, Wade and Butler on both sides of the ball will dictate the outcome.
Enjoy the game and the end of your weekend!
