The Lakers end their road trip on a high note.

The Los Angeles Lakers won’t end their first road trip without a victory after securing a 123-116 win over the Atlanta Hawks much thanks to Lou Williams. Williams was right at home in Atlanta, scoring 16 points in the fourth quarter to snap the Lakers’ three-game losing streak.

Julius Randle put the game on ice after switching onto Dennis Schroder in the final minutes of the game. He defended the guard’s drive perfectly, swatting his layup from behind which led to the game-clinching Nick Young three-pointer off of a D’Angelo Russell assist.

The kids fought, as they have all season, and this time it amounted to a good team win.

The Lakers went into halftime facing a nine-point deficit but turned it on in the second half. They outscored the Hawks 72-56 through the final two frames, led by Nick Young and Williams combining for 31 while Russell dished out seven assists. The team put it together through 24 minutes and captured an elusive road win.

Luol Deng had a productive game, notching a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Russell put in a team-high 23 points with eight assists. Dwight Howard feasted on the Lakers’ shorthanded frontcourt, scoring a game-high 31 points while taking advantage of an overmatched Ivica Zubac.

Winning the Hawks on the road on the second-half of a back-to-back was no easy task, but the Lakers handed Atlanta their first loss of the season. They’ll head home to Los Angeles with their heads held high and eyes on a visit from the Golden State Warriors on Friday.

Until then...
