Ivica Zubac became a fan favorite for the Los Angeles Lakers before he even played a second for the team. The affable second-rounder may have initially been beloved for his personality off the court (what’s not to love about a seven-foot Lakers fan from Croatia who claims he has Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, and Andrew Bynum jerseys back home?), but his performance at Las Vegas Summer League picked him up plenty more fans.
Zubac didn’t play much in the Lakers first preseason game, but he was inserted at the end of the first half of the Lakers’ game against the Denver Nuggets on Friday night and made a pretty immediate impact for the team.
The rookie scored 2 points and blocked 2 shots in his first three minutes, and he immediately won over the crowd in his first game playing at Staples Center.
