When the Los Angeles Lakers signed Timofey Mozgov to a four-year, $64 million contract this summer, most assumed it was for defensive reasons. The former Cleveland Cavaliers big man did a superb job protecting the rim during his first year in the wine and gold before being hampered by injuries last season.
The Lakers hope he can bounce back and live up to his gargantuan contract, and it even sounds like he may be a little bit more of a factor on the offensive end than previously thought.
"I got a special play for me,” Mozgov told Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News after the Lakers’ Thursday practice when asked if he would shoot threes for the Lakers’ this season. "It's no joke. I'm serious."
Other than his 17.9 percent success rate from three-point land so far in his career, there is literally no other reason the Lakers shouldn’t give this a shot. I mean, can you say stretch-five, anyone?

With Timo officially unleashed to fire from range, it’s probably time to revise those Lakers over-unders. 82-0 is in play*.
