In quite possibly the least shocking press release of all-time, the Los Angeles Lakers announced that they exercised their team options on Julius Randle, Larry Nance Jr. and D’Angelo Russell for the 2017-18 season.
The option will be the fourth season of Randle’s contract, and he’ll be on the Lakers’ cap for $4,149,242 before the team will have to decide whether or not they want to make the qualifying offer of $5,564,134 to make him a restricted free agent in the summer of 2018.
The options are for the third years of Russell and Nance’s contracts, worth $5,562,360 and $1,259,640, respectively.
All of those contracts are obviously uber-cheap deals for some of the Lakers’ most valuable contributors moving forward under a ballooning cap, illustrating the value in a team finding value in their draft picks as the Lakers have.
