The Los Angeles Lakers made it back to California after going for broke in Las Vegas, but it’s still not quite time for showtime in Staples Center. They make their annual trip down to San Diego, the homeland of head coach Luke Walton. You might remember the game in the south point of Cali as the one that was cancelled because the hardwood was soggy logs with a precipitation problem on the court. Players were slipping and falling left and right, forcing an early stoppage of play.

Or, you might remember it for this:

All legends begin somewhere.

The Lakers were smacked around by the Dubs last outing and that was sans Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala. Coach Luke has yet to decide on the starting lineup, though the only position that’s been up for grabs seems to be shooting guard. Nick Young, Jordan Clarkson and Lou Williams are all candidates at this point, with Young being a surprise horse entering the race with what appears to be a bounce from a horrid season.

D’Angelo Russell had one of his quietest nights of exhibition play last time around, scoring just eight points on 3-of-10 shooting (1-of-6 from deep). Klay Thompson, Steph Curry and Kevin Durant handled business, and it was clearly time for the Lakers to get out of the desert.

We’ll see if the ocean breeze of San Diego helps them set sail again. Enjoy the game.
