The Los Angeles Lakers will have to wait until next year to notch their first win in T-Mobile Arena after dropping their third-straight game in a 112-107 loss to the Golden State Warriors. The Dubs’ starters were able to call it an early night after going up by as many as 32 points in the first half, running up the score on a Lakers’ team at a very different place than Luke Walton’s old sideline squad.
The final score hardly tells the tale of Klay Thompson, Steph Curry and Kevin Durant bringing the pain to the purple and gold. The Lakers’ made a run in the fourth quarter once the Warriors stripped things down to the bottom of their rotation, but it doesn’t make up for the ground they lost when the core players were on the court.
Thompson scored a game-high 24 points in 18 minutes, making four of his six three-point attempts. Curry tossed in another 14 points, with Durant adding 17, and it was cruise control for Golden State. Patrick McCaw had a solid game off the bench, scoring 13 points while taking on a heavy minute load.
Nick Young’s preseason MVP campaign continued on as he led the Lakers with 17 points off the bench. Jordan Clarkson led the starters with 15 points. Brandon Ingram had one of his better exhibition games, breaking double-digits with 12 points while making both of his three-point attempts.
Los Angeles is off until the 19th, when they head down to San Diego to face off against the Warriors again.
