D'Angelo Russell isn't worried about criticism because LeBron James and Jesus also get criticized

D'Angelo Russell had another rough game in the Los Angeles Lakers' loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, scoring 8 points on 10 shots while turning over the ball twice (although he did have 5 assists). It was Russell's second poor game in as many nights, and the rookie point guard was not happy with his effort.

"I know what I'm capable of, so when I don't perform that way I'll always be hard on myself," Russell told reporters after the game. After thanking Lakers head coach Byron Scott for not holding his struggles against him, Russell explained how he is able to take criticism of his play in stride.

"Any time anybody says anything bad about me that means I have to work. They say I'm not living up to what my potential is I know I have to work," said Russell "And that's every day. LeBron still gets criticism, Jesus still gets criticized, so I have to do something better."

Russell comparing himself to LeBron James and Jesus Christ makes the pre-draft comparisons of his game to Stephen Curry's look tame, but at least the rookie is not letting his struggles go to his head.

Additionally, while some have called Scott Russell's biggest critic, the first year point guard revealed who really gives him the most criticism.

"My family's my biggest critic, my boys I keep in my circle, my brothers that live with me, they're my biggest critics, they're the first ones to tell me 'boy, you stunk it up tonight,'" Russell continued. "So when I play, I'm playing for myself but I'm playing for my family too."

Even if Russell hasn't played his best over the last two games, it's good to see that he is maintaining a good attitude in the face of adversity.
