The Los Angeles Lakers' Las Vegas Summer League team will get the ball rolling without swingman Jabari Brown, who is expected to miss the first two games of exhibition play after suffering a laceration on his left eye, according to Lakers sideline reporter Mike Trudell. Brown was a late addition to the Lakers' team last season, filling in the backcourt rotation with his former Mizzou teammate Jordan Clarkson.
This could open an opportunity for other players on the Lakers' squad -- like Xavier Munford or Tony Mitchell -- to get an extended look during the first few contests. It's unfortunate that Brown won't be immediately available, however, as he's a young talent that could use the extra development. He'll have plenty of chances to work with the team once he's ready to compete if his absence is as short as anticipated.
The Lakers open play against the Minnesota Timberwolves at 5:30 p.m. PT on July 10, then play the Philadelphia 76ers at the same time on July 11. Stay tuned to Silver Screen and Roll as our staff cover's the NBA's last hurrah before going into offseason silence.
