Lakers Free Agency: Greg Monroe signing 3-year, $50 million contract with Bucks, according to report

Greg Monroe and the Milwaukee Bucks have agreed to terms of a three-year, $50 million contract with a player option on the final year, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports. The Los Angeles Lakers flew in to Washington D.C. to meet with Monroe following their meeting with LaMarcus Aldridge, but the front office didn't bring the free agent back to Los Angeles.

There are conflicting details on the money offered to Monroe that should be kept in mind. The Lakers reportedly did not offer Monroe a max contract, though no figure was released on what they did bring to the table. Howard Beck of Bleacher Report reports every team offered Monroe a maximum-level deal, but he still chose Milwaukee. It's unclear what the Lakers actually offered Greg, though his decision could've been purely to land on a growing team that should be in the Eastern Conference playoffs for years.

This takes another top free agent off the board for the Lakers, though if they didn't offer a big contract, the front office may have been lukewarm on signing him to begin with. Watching talent sign elsewhere is painful if only for the fact that as the market of available talent shrinks, the competition to land a player becomes even more aggressive.

The next player that could draw attention from teams seeking a starting center is Robin Lopez. The Knicks are already shifting to focus on signing him, according to Wojnarowski.
