Lakers vs. Mavericks Summer League Preview: The path to a summer championship

The Lakers' Summer League experience is winding down with a game against the Mavericks.

The Los Angeles Lakers are making a run for the championship this summer. The Summer League Lakers begin tournament play against the Dallas Mavericks, hoping to turn around what's been a frustrating experience in Las Vegas. It's been disheartening for fans who want to see the talented young core be a talented young core, and challenging for a group of players that haven't found their timing together.

Keep an eye on turnovers, which Mark Madsen said he was going to address. "I'm going to break down the tape tonight, I'll have a better answer for that," Madsen said of the Lakers' 20 turnovers against the New York Knicks on Monday. We'll find out if the team found answers together after getting a day of much-needed practice in.

Lakers fans will also get a look at Justin Anderson, who many were hoping would fall to No. 27. He's averaging 14.3 points per game through Summer League, but he still looks like a raw wing that has to learn the nuances of defense.

Ultimately all eyes will be on Russell, Randle and Clarkson. The young trio has yet to have it's moment in the spotlight and are running out of time to end the summer with positive vibes. A win would go a long way, and a dominant game from either D'Angelo or Julius would be most welcomed.

Enjoy the games while you can. Summer League is close to the end, leaving a mere days until the NBA hits it's real lull.
