D'Angelo Russell compares himself to Stephen Curry during Lakers workout

The Lakers look at another point guard in play for the second overall pick.

D'Angelo Russell worked out in front of the Los Angeles Lakers basketball operations department and coaching staff on Monday afternoon as the team continues to look at players who the front office could potentially select with the second overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft. The Ohio State freshman phenom is the second point guard the Lakers have worked out over the past three days, with the team hosting Emmanuel Mudiay on Saturday morning.

Russell starred in his lone season at Ohio State, averaging 19.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 5 assists per game while shooting 41.1 percent from three-pointers range, and is likely to be the first point guard off the board when the draft takes place on June 25th. The Lakers are reportedly leaning toward selecting either Duke's Jahlil Okafor or Kentucky's Karl-Anthony Towns with the second overall selection, but there is some thought that a particularly strong workout from Russell could change that thinking.

Did Russell deliver? In this video from Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News, he demonstrated his shooting stroke with a few dribble pull-up jumpers:

He cooled off a bit in this second recording, but still went 5-of-7:

After the workout, Russell told assembled media that he had always dreamed of "playing against Kobe [Bryant]", but he also would consider it an "honor" and "pleasure" to suit up alongside Bryant in what will likely be his farewell season. Russell was also not shy when asked which players he would compare his style of play to, citing reigning NBA MVP Stephen Curry as a player he patterned his game after.

Russell also dined with Mitch Kupchak and the Lakers personnel on Sunday night, and mentioned that they spent most of the evening watching Game 2 of the NBA Finals. Russell is even preparing his evaluations of NBA officiating, recalling that "bad calls" were a central topic of conversation between himself and the Lakers brass during the game. Whether anything notable comes from Russell's workout or not, we are about to find out if a player can be fined for public criticism of officiating before they are officially drafted.

The Lakers posted a photo gallery of the workout and Russell will reportedly spend Monday evening getting dinner with the Lakers coaching staff. The Lakers will continue their pre-draft process when the team works out Okafor on Tuesday.
