Two-time NBA All-Star and current Beijing Ducks point guard Stephon Marbury has some experience with Emmanuel Mudiay, matching up with the current draft prospect in the Chinese Basketball Association in 2014 when his Ducks took on Mudiay's Guangdong Southern Tigers.
The Lakers worked out Mudiay on Saturday morning after taking him out to dinner on Friday night, and if Marbury has his way, the Lakers will select Mudiay second overall in the 2015 NBA Draft, as captured in this Real GM thread:

The comments have since been deleted, but it would not be the first time Marbury has offered his endorsement of Mudiay publicly, telling Ryan McNeill of Hoops Addict in April "[Mudiay is] a kid who is going to be really good, has a big upside. He's got real potential, started at 18. He can play at a high level. It's about the people around (him), and who he surrounds himself with is important to what goes on in his career. He's got his own style - fast. He's got a little bit of everybody's game. What I like about him is he can jump and he's big, too, a big guard, more of a tweener. He can't really shoot that well right now, but he's got point-guard skills, sees the floor really well. He's definitely an NBA player."
Mudiay demonstrated the up and down nature of his shot in front of the assembled media in Los Angeles today, and it remains to be seen if the Lakers saw enough from his workout to select above players such as Jahlil Okafor, Karl-Anthony Towns, and D'Angelo Russell when the 2015 NBA Draft takes place on June 25th.
