The first glimpse of the No. 2 pick for Los Angeles Lakers fans could come on July 10, when their Las Vegas Summer League opener tips-off. The Lakers will face the Minnesota Timberwolves, pitting the top two picks of the 2015 NBA Draft against each other in the Thomas & Mack Center. The game begins at 5:30 p.m. PT.
To follow up that big game, the Lakers play the Philadelphia 76ers on July 11 (5:30 p.m.), getting a close look at the third overall pick. Los Angeles then takes a day off on Sunday, followed by a friendly contest against the New York Knicks on July 13 (5:30 p.m.) to conclude pre-tournament play. They will play beyond that, as Vegas play runs until July 20, but seeding will then come into play.
The Lakers' Summer League team should be stacked with young talent. Jordan Clarkson, Jabari Brown and Tarik Black should all be locks for the squad, while the plan has been to have Julius Randle ready to make his return to the basketball court. Tack on whoever it is the Lakers select with picks 2, 27 and 34, and this might be one of the favorites to be crowned Vegas Summer League champions.
The NBA Draft is June 25, and Summer League is just around the corner to bring it all together.
