Diana Taurasi chose to sit out the current WNBA season in order to rest up for her much more lucrative contract overseas, leaving her with some time to appear on Bill Simmons' "Grantland Basketball Hour on ESPN."
When asked what NBA player she would most like to play with, Taurasi initially chose the recently retired Steve Nash. Once informed she had to pick a current player, she answered with an emphatic "Kobe":
The three-time WNBA champion and 2009 MVP did not only have positives to say about her Lakers. When asked what NBA teams she was watching while overseas during the season, she mentioned the Lakers, but said they were not getting watched anymore by the middle of March;
Taurasi is surely not the only Lakers fan that did not make it past March before tuning out. With a healthy Julius Randle to add to Jordan Clarkson, a hoped for top-five draft pick, and Kobe Bryant in his likely farewell season, there will be more reasons to tune into the Lakers next season.
