The Clippers are interested in signing Wesley Johnson to improve their depth on the wing this summer, according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.com. The Clippers had issues with their small forward production this season, and as of now only have Matt Barnes locked in at that position on a non-guaranteed deal worth $3,542,500.
Johnson averaged 9.9 points and 4.2 rebounds per game for the Lakers in 2014-15, but often left observers disappointed. The former fourth overall pick would be the latest former Laker to migrate teams without having to change addresses, following in the recent footsteps of Jordan Farmar, Matt Barnes, and Sasha Vujacic, among others.
After being eliminated from the playoffs in a second round game 7 by the Houston Rockets, it would appear the Clippers are already beginning to take a look at their weaknesses and prepare to address them. Whether Wesley Johnson is their answer to these issues remains to be seen.
