Lakers announce Julius Randle is cleared for basketball activities

The Lakers' rookie is cranking things up with the team.

The Los Angeles Lakers released a huge piece of news Monday, announcing that Julius Randle has been cleared for full weight-bearing non-contact basketball activities. The team has shared various photos and snippets of Randle being around the team, and it sounds like he'll be much more involved with development on a day-to-day basis.

This came out of nowhere, as the Lakers haven't let on to any significant updates regarding Randle's health. The biggest chunk of information to come out regarding what he's been up to was a revealing tidbit that he'd been directly working with Mitch Kupchak on what sounds like scouting reports.

Randle broke his leg on Oct. 28, a long 131 days ago when the Lakers' opening night horror show began. He'll likely do small things, like running and shooting drills, but any updates on him are exciting during the Lakers' franchise-worst struggles. He'll also travel with the team for the remainder of the season.

It's a big step in progress, and as long as we're getting glimpses of Randle playing basketball again, it's awesome, which becomes evident when you finally see him doing something on the court again:

And that's how you start a week the right way.
