Lakers vs. Mavericks preview: Jordan Clarkson gets a crack at Rajon Rondo

The Lakers get back to the grind with a game against the Maverick.

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Lakers are back home after losing three straight games on the road, but the Dallas Mavericks won't be much of a welcoming committee. Chandler Parsons makes his return to the Mavericks' lineup after missing the previous seven games with a left ankle injury. The Lakers have been leaning on their point guard duo of Jeremy Lin and Jordan Clarkson, but even with them playing well it's been loss after loss.

What we'll see is Rajon Rondo, impending unrestricted free agent and player who admittedly has the Lakers on his "list," taking a crack at checking both of the Lakers' guards. Rondo might be an enticing option this summer for the Lakers, but it's not entirely a foregone conclusion that he'll be leaving Mark Cuban behind. He's reportedly still open to re-signing with Dallas, a team fighting to contend in the present.

Watching Clarkson try to take on Rondo, a player who's made his reputation mostly on defensive prowess, should be an interesting enough reason to sit back and take this game on this spring-forward Sunday. Byron Scott will use a new starting lineup featuring Jordan Clarkson, Wayne Ellington, Wesley Johnson, Jordan Hill and Tarik Black. The Lakers will try to avoid their fourth losing streak of at least five games.

Enjoy the game, which is an important one with the struggling Pistons and Knicks visiting Los Angeles next.
