Russell Westbrook will miss Sunday's game against the Lakers after undergoing surgery Saturday morning, per a Thunder press release:
Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook underwent a successful procedure today to address a fracture to the zygomatic arch of his right cheek
In the Lakers first and only meeting with Oklahoma City this year, Westbrook scored 31 points and dished out 10 assists in a one point win for the Thunder, who were also missing Kevin Durant.
D.J. Augustin will likely start in Westbrook's absence. Westbrook has been an MVP candidate for the Thunder, averaging a triple double of 30.6 points, 11.8 assists, and 10.6 rebounds over his last 5 games, production Oklahoma City sorely needed in the absence of Durant.
Suddenly, the odds of the Lakers adding to their current three game win streak just got a boost.
