The Oklahoma City Thunder and Brooklyn Nets are finalizing a deal that will send Reggie Jackson to Brooklyn in exchange for Brook Lopez, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports. Jackson's availability has been public, culminating with a verbal thrashing from Russell Westbrook following Thunder practice Thursday.
Another wrinkle? This trade could trigger a return to Minnesota for Kevin Garnett, reports Wojnarowski.
The Thunder clear themselves of Jackson's impending restricted free agency and get a talented, but oft-injured player in Lopez to make their push for a deep playoff run. Brooklyn will be more invested in matching any contract offer to Jackson over the summer, shrinking the available point guard market this summer.
The Lakers are running low on possible trade targets as the deadline draws in, but were never in the market for Jackson based on reports. The Nuggets have made significant roster moves, trading Arron Afflalo, JaVale McGee and a future first-round pick on deadline day. Ty Lawson drew interest from the Lakers, but Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post reports Lawson is not on the trade block.
The deadline is Thursday at 12 p.m. PT, and some of the dominoes are starting to fall.
