Lakers vs. 76ers Final Score: Lakers hit a new low, lose 103-91 to Philadelphia

The 76ers avoided history, and the Lakers hit a new low on a down year.

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Lakers gave the Philadelphia 76ers their first win of the season in a 103-91 loss. Kobe Bryant started off looking like the same assassin that ripped out 76ers fans' hearts out in the NBA Finals, but the glimmers of the old Kobe faded and the Lakers were completely flat through the second half.

Bryant ended the night with 20 points on 7-of-26 shooting but came out of the gates on fire following a wonderful tribute from the 76ers franchise. Unfortunately, he was mostly out of gas through the rest of the game after his first-quarter barrage, crashing back down with each missed shot that left his hand. D'Angelo Russell had an off night from the floor, missing 9 of his 14 shot attempts.

The Lakers led by as many as 14 points but couldn't hold against a team one loss away from hitting a new seaso-opening low. Los Angeles was outscored 30-17 by the 76ers in the third quarter and quickly fell behind. Jordan Clarkson was the entire Lakers' offense in the third quarter, putting in 12 points, but he alone wasn't enough as the rest of the team sank. Robert Covington lit up the Lakers from long-range, draining five three-pointers on his way to a game-high 23 points.

The Lakers will head out on a team bus to Washington to face the Wizards Wednesday in the second half of their back-to-back. That's a bus ride we should all be glad we aren't on tonight.
