A lot of people tuned into the Los Angeles Lakers' Sunday morning showdown with the New York Knicks to watch Kobe Bryant versus Carmelo Anthony. Others wanted to sneak a peek at D'Angelo Russell and Kristaps Porzingis, two top-five picks in the 2015 NBA draft.
Those people were wrong. The real and only reason to watch the Lakers take on the Knicks was the reunion of two former champions. Two men who earned rings together. One one side, you have a shooting guard who took a fair amount of criticism early in his career, but without whom a historical great, future Hall of Famer, and one-time MVP would not have at least one of his rings. On the other side, you have Kobe Bryant. Sasha Vujacic and Kobe were not matched up against each other one-on-one on Sunday as much as true fans of the game would have liked, but game recognizes game, and the two Lakers champions met at midcourt for an embrace after a hard fought Knicks win.
I'm not saying Sasha Vujacic is better than Kobe Bryant, but the Knicks did win 99-95. Scoreboard.
