The Los Angeles Lakers ending their up and down preseason with a dispiriting 39 point loss to the defending champion Golden State Warriors showed the team just how far it has to go to compete with the best teams the NBA has to offer. After the game, D'Angelo Russell told media "I've got to mature very fast. Stay in the film room, just keep chipping away at being the best I can possibly be." The Lakers other recent lottery pick, Julius Randle, also describes himself as "self-driven, and I've always been that way since I was a kid." So it makes sense that the two young Lakers were the last to leave the practice floor on Saturday, staying after the team's session ended to get additional shots up as they continue to prepare for the grind of the regular season.
Thanks to Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News, we have video of Russell putting in extra work:
D'Angelo Russell & Julius Randle put in the most extra shots after practice. Part of the reason why the Lakers have high hopes on them

If Russell and Randle continue to put in extra work like this, it can only help them reach or exceed the Lakers' hopes for what they can become.
