We're getting ready for a brand new season of Los Angeles Lakers basketball, so to count down the days we'll be looking at the best Lakers to wear the number. We'll continue at 7 days until the regular season begins, with the "Candyman".

Who wore it the best: Lamar Odom

Lamar Odom was selected with the 4th overall pick in the 1999 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers, after 1 year at the University of Rhode Island. Lamar would end up playing 4 years with the Clippers before joining the Heat as a restricted free agent. The Heat offered Odom a contract that the Clippers declined to match. After only a year in Miami, Odom was involved in the trade that sent Shaquille O'Neal out of Los Angeles.

Odom played as the Lakers starting power forward for the first few years he was there, but with the emergence of Andrew Bynum in 2007 and the trade for Pau Gasol in 2008, Odom became a 6th man for the Lakers. Although initially against the idea, Odom finally came around to the idea of being a sixth man; even though he ended up playing starter minutes most of the time. And even though he would start several times throughout the year, with frequent injuries to Andrew Bynum, Odom would win the 2011 Sixth Man of The Year award, the first Laker to do so.

After the vetoed Chris Paul trade before the lockout shortened 2011-12 season, Odom became upset with Laker management and requested a trade. The Lakers traded him to Dallas where he would spend only a single season. He signed the next year with the Clippers, and would only play one season there as well. Odom went on to play in a Spanish league and eventually signed with the Knicks towards the end of the 2013-14 season, but never played a game for them and was waived in the offseason.

Who wore it last: Xavier Henry

After only 1 year at the University of Kansas, Xavier Henry was drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies with the 12th overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft. Due to injuries, Henry would only play in 38 games for the Grizzlies. He would be traded in the offseason to the New Orleans Hornets where he would play for two years, while still battling several nagging injuries.

After the 2013 season, Xavier signed a one year deal with the Lakers. Xavier would go on to average 10.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists & 1.0 steal in 21.1 minutes per game during his first year as a Lakers. And although he missed the end of the season due to wrist and knee surgery, the Lakers offered him another one year deal. Battling back from his offseason knee surgery, Xavier ruptured his left Achilles in practice and was subsequently waived by the Lakers.
