We're getting ready for a brand new season of Los Angeles Lakers basketball, so to count down the days we'll be looking at the best Lakers to wear the number. We'll continue at 26 days until the regular season begins, with the only player to ever wear #26 in the purple and gold.
Who wore it the best: Danny Schayes

While he did have an 18 year NBA career, he only played 13 games in a Laker uniform. He joined the Lakers part of the way through the 1994 season. He spent the majority of his career wearing #24, but George Lynch was already wearing that number when Schayes joined the Lakers. He settled for #26, and is featured here because he is the only player to ever wear #26 for the Lakers.
Schayes was selected with the 13th overall pick by the Utah Jazz in the 1981 NBA draft. He spent his best years playing the Denver Nuggets, where he averaged 9.4 points. 5.8 rebounds & .9 blocks in 20 minutes per game over an 8 year tenure. His best year came during the 1987-88 season with the Nuggets, where he averaged 13.9 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.
