(UPDATE 10/16 11:40 a.m. PT) Lamar Odom has opened his eyes and communicated, according to various reports and confirmed by ABC News. It's unclear how Odom communicated, but he reportedly responded "yes" when asked if he wanted to see his children. He could have squeezed someone's hand as a response, something Daniel Artest indicated Odom has done.
Players and other members of the Los Angeles Lakers, as well as fans of the organization, have been patiently waiting on updates of the health of fan-favorite former Lakers player Lamar Odom since he was found unconscious and subsequently hospitalized. Now, via Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News, we have the latest update on Odom's fight:
Although Lamar Odom has stayed on life support and in a coma at a Las Vegas hospital, the former Lakers and Clippers forward continue to make progress with his recovery. Odom woke up briefly and showed some responsiveness with his body language on Thursday, according to multiple sources familiar with the situation.
Hopefully this is good news, but as of right now we still have very little information on Odom's prognosis for the future. Kobe Bryant, Metta World Peace, and Byron Scott all expressed their support for Odom on Thursday, as have many around the league. Stay tuned to Silver Screen and Roll for more information as it becomes available.
