The Los Angeles Lakers have traded into the second round of the 2014 NBA Draft to select guard Jordan Clarkson out of Missouri with the 46th-overall pick, giving up "financial considerations," reports ESPN. Clarkson spent his first two years at Tulsa prior to transferring for his junior season with the Tigers. He averaged 17.5 points per game while shooting 44 percent from the field in his final collegiate season.
Clarkson is a big point guard, measuring at 6'5, 185 lbs. with a 6'8 wingspan. In comparison, Rookie of the Year Michael Carter-Williams measured a 6'7 wingspan.
DraftExpress' full mock draft projected Clarkson to be the 31st-overall selection and eighth-ranked junior. The Los Angeles Times' Mike Bresnahan noted that Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak and the front office were "trying furiously" to buy a second-round pick, and they was able to make it happen.
