The Los Angeles Lakers continue evaluating the incoming rookie draft class and the team officially announced another large group workout on Friday, June 20. The team will host Marcus Smart, Aaron Gordon, Elfrid Payton, Nik Stauskas and P.J. Hairston for a group workout with one week until draft night. Smart, Gordon and Payton also attended the first large workout the team held on June 6.
More on the Lakers
More on the Lakers
The Lakers have hosted Smart on multiple occasions and the point guard out of Oklahoma State is one of the players often projected to Los Angeles. Chad Ford also revealed in his most recent mock draft that Payton is being brought in to line up against Smart, and that the two prospects have had competitive workouts when matched up recently. Stauskas was invited to the first workout the Lakers held but did not attend.
This is also the second look the Lakers are taking of Gordon. The defensive forward has rarely been projected to the Lakers in mock drafts, but should be in play in the team's range.
The Lakers media team has been on top of these workouts, providing plenty of pictures, video and content as the team sorts through prospects. Be sure to check out the highlights from the June 6 workout, and expect more on this Friday afternoon once the sessions concludes.
The team also hosted an exclusive workout with Julius Randle recently. You can see highlights from that workout here.
