Nick Young making season debut vs. Hawks

Nick Young is back!

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Young is officially making his season debut against the Atlanta Hawks Tuesday night, reports Baxter Holmes of ESPN. Young is returning ahead of schedule after tearing ligaments in his right thumb during training camp. His return should make an immediate impact, but it could take some time to shake off some rust after missing preseason and the first 10 games of the season.

Young ramped up his activities over the last week, participating in scrimmages shortly after his cast was removed.

Byron Scott will play Young off the bench for the time being, which means he'll spell both Wesley Johnson and Kobe Bryant. The Lakers' bench has been devoid of talent as Xavier Henry has gotten off to a slow start in his return, and options outside of him have been limited. Wayne Ellington's absence has also been a factor in their lack of perimeter scoring.

There's no details on any minutes restrictions yet, but the details will surely sort themselves out. For now, let's get ready for the Lakers to get swaggier and welcome back one of the surprises from last season.
