The Los Angeles Lakers confirmed Steve Nash is out for the season due to recurring nerve damage in his back, and the all-time great point guard had plenty of support from people within the Lakers organization and players around the league on social media.

Nash has not made a decision on whether he'll be retiring because of his condition continuing to get worse, but is in the final year of his contract with the Lakers. It's hard to imagine the 40-year-old point guard will be able to bounce back after the latest setback, but he's tried to work through a wave of injuries that began when Damian Lillard knocked knees with him and broke his leg.
Expect many more quotes from Lakers personnel when media gets its first opportunity to ask about Nash's injury Friday night during their final preseason game.
