Xavier Henry has been ruled out for the remainder of the Los Angeles Lakers' preseason as he struggles to recover from knee surgery. Henry is now scheduled to make a trip to New York to get a second opinion on his knee before undergoing Regenokine treatment in Germany, as announced in a press release by his agents.
The Lakers were expecting Henry to miss part of training camp and preseason, but his recovery has been a slower process than anticipated. There's been sparse details on what progress he has made, and what's specifically holding him back, but the team should know more once he undergoes treatment overseas. It's also worth noting the Regenokine treatment is the same treatment Kobe Bryant underwent before preseason, and Henry will be seeing the same doctor.
Henry is expected to return to Los Angeles on Oct. 24, with an update on his status following shortly after. The Lakers' first regular season game is Oct. 28, leaving little time for Henry to acclimate himself to a new head coach and teammates before the real season begins.
