Los Angeles Lakers fans have often been accused, both from within and from without, of not properly appreciating Pau Gasol. After all, Gasol is an incredibly skilled and efficient basketball player, and has had to deal with a steady dose of challenges to his manhood, not to mention the fact that he has been on the wrong end of the pecking order for a variety of people, from Kobe Bryant to Andrew Bynum to Dwight Howard. One need only look at how Coach Mike D'Antoni treated Pau last season to see that Gasol's contributions and skill set are not always properly appreciated around these parts.
But hey, at least he's got Spain. Spain loves them some Pau Gasol. Spain loves them some Pau Gasol so much that Gasol will be one of the people relied upon to help Spain in their bid to be chosen as host of the 2020 Summer Olympic Games. This comes after Gasol was chosen to be Spain's flag bearer at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
This seems as good a time as any to say We Love You, Pau Gasol. Just not as much as Spain does.
