Dwight Howard could announce his free agency decision as early as Friday, according to ESPN's Adam Shchefter. Howard is currently in Aspen deciding between the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors and Atlanta Hawks as his next destination.
Yes, Howard's free agency is a big enough story for ESPN's NFL "insider" to have a report.
This is the second report that directly names Friday as the day Howard will announce his decision, as Peter Vecsey also reported that "someone privy to Dwight Howard's plans" indicated the decision would come at the end of the week.
Alex Kennedy of HOOPSWORLD, however, indicates that Howard's camp has not placed a timetable on his decision.
Before Howard officially became a free agent reports pointed to his desire to make a decision quickly rather than dragging out the process. He blew through five meetings with his potential destinations in a 48-hour span, beginning within an hour of his contract expiring, and left California as soon as his final meeting concluded to regroup and focus on his decision.
