All day long, I've tried to figure out what to say about last night's monumental defeat at the hands of the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Quarterfinals. All day long, and nothing has come. Because there's nothing left to say. No analysis left to do. When you are missing 60% of your starting lineup, and 40% of the backups to that 60%, when you are forced to start the 2nd half of a pivotal playoff game with a lineup consisting of Darius Morris, Andrew Goudelock and Chris Duhon, then your fate is sealed and not even a superhero can save you.
The Lakers lost big last night for reasons so obvious, to state them again would be a waste of your time. So we will do nothing. The blog will sit here, in silence, until the final nail in the coffin is (hopefully) delivered on Sunday. A moment of silence is the proper response to a tragedy, and while I am in no way comparing the real life horrors we've seen recently to six months of misfortune for a sports franchise that normally takes baths in good luck, what has befallen the 2012-2013 Los Angeles Lakers is the closest thing to a tragedy in sports without actually involving a real life tragedy.
So, please observe a moment of silence for the 2012-2013 Los Angeles Lakers.
