Pau Gasol has received a second medical opinion on his foot, this time in Los Angeles with team doctors, and they have confirmed that Pau has suffered from a plantar fascia tear. He will be out a "minimum" 6-8 weeks because of the injury, reports Kevin Ding of the OC Register.

So much for the "4" weeks that other "sources" were projecting. The good news for the Lakers is that Dwight Howard has returned to the starting lineup, so while they will still be short-handed, they wont be empty-handed.
With the 6-8 weeks timetable it appears they will not be opting for surgery, as that would put them closer to a 12 week minimum recovery period. The official word on Pau Gasol's plantar fascia just became officially official.
