Kobe Bryant is officially practicing with the Los Angeles Lakers for the first time since tearing his Achilles seven months ago, reports Yahoo Sports Adrian Wojnarowski. The team has not made an official update on his status, though Sam Amick reports the team has "confirmed" he is back to practice. The Lakers have not announced a return date.
Kobe tore his Achilles in April and was reportedly "shattering" timetables during his recovery. Vines, Instagram videos and pictures of Kobe working with the team during pregame shootarounds have been the extent of actual updates made public.
Kobe told former teammate Rick Fox during an interview on NBATV on Friday that he feels he's "ahead of schedule" and, if it was a playoff game, he'd play. When the Lakers visited the Houston Rockets on Nov. 7 he told reporters he was two weeks into a "rigorous" conditioning program to prep for actual practice.
The Lakers have opened the season 4-7 without Bryant.
