The Lakers returned to the comfortable confines of the Toyota Sports Center yesterday, finally back home after the long road trip. Mike Brown wasted no time, having players run through some light drills and shooting.

Most of the questions asked at practice centered around Gilbert Arenas. No one would comment much about him, opting instead to brush off the question. Pau took a whole 14 seconds to gather his thoughts, and even took a couple of glances to his left and right, possibly wary of Lakers Officials, before he gave a very Pau Gasol answer:

"We just need to play better," Gasol said. "We don't need a particular player. As a team and a player, your mind-set is to work with what you have. We have enough talent here to be able to play better and more consistent. Having said that, I don't know what we need. You tell me."

It shouldn't come as a surprise to hear that the only Laker who did say something was Kobe Bryant.

"It surely wouldn't hurt," Bryant said Monday after practice at the Lakers' facility in El Segundo. "That's for sure."

For now, the Lakers should concentrate on their next opponent, the Atlanta Hawks, and leave the rumors to us, the blogs. Only 6 games remain before the All Star break, and it would be terrible to have another 3-3 split.
