Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol will not play Tuesday night against the Houston Rockets due to tendonitis in both knees, according to a tweet from ESPN Los Angeles' Dave McMenamin. His replacement in the starting lineup is unknown at this time.
Gasol has dealt with the injuries all season and it has shown in his production. Gasol is averaging a career-low 12.6 points per game and shooting a career-low 42 percent from the field as the Lakers went from a Mike Brown system that fit his skill-set perfectly to a Mike D'Antoni offense that has Gasol still trying to figure out where he can be effective.
Unless D'Antoni would like to keep his spark off the bench, look for Antawn Jamison to slide into the starting lineup in Gasol's place. Jamison has flourished under the new offensive structure, averaging 16.2 points and 8.6 rebounds on 58.2 percent shooting off the bench over the past five games. He dropped a season-high 33 points on the Denver Nuggets on Nov. 30 and scored 19 points with 15 rebounds in a win over the Dallas Mavericks on Nov. 24.
