With the Los Angeles Lakers playing consistently inconsistent it's becoming more and more evident that missing out on a key ingredient in their game plan, one Steve Nash, is causing growing pains for a team trying to reinvent itself. Earlier in the week it was reported that Steve Blake would miss at least two more weeks, and now it appears Steve Nash will continue to be M.I.A. (to no one's surprise) over the upcoming three game road trip according to Mark Medina
In a brief interview with this newspaper after the Lakers' 113-103 loss Sunday to the Orlando Magic, Nash said the non-displaced fracture in his left leg hasn't healed enough for him to play in at least the Lakers' three-game trip this week. They have stops in Houston (Tuesday), New Orleans (Wednesday) and Oklahoma City (Friday). The Lakers then have a home game Sunday against Utah.
Nash said he plans to fly with the team to receive further treatment, but he hardly sounded optimistic about his return.
"Another 10 days to two weeks?" Nash wondered aloud. "That's a total guess. Since I can't run, I'm not going to play this week." - Mark Medina, Daily News
The injury has kept Nash out of 15 games. 15 long, painful, games without the facilitator who was delivered to lead the Lakers out of point guard purgatory. Kazoos for Darius Morris and Chris Duhon, go!
