Lakers-Spurs Game Thread

The first rivalry game - TRUE rivalry game - of the year.

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-US PRESSWIRE

The glorious reign of Bernie "Just Let 'Em Play" Bickerstaff gets at least one more night to shine. While Lakerdom awaits the handover of power to Mike D'Antoni, Bernie will put his perfect 2-0 record on the line this evening against the hated-but-respected San Antonio Spurs at Staples Center. The Spurs arrive with a swaggy 6-1 record, second in winning percentage only to the 4-0 Knicks.

They rank 8th in the NBA in offensive efficiency, 13th in defensive efficiency, suggesting their record might be a wee bit inflated. Obviously they're for real, though - this is the Spurs we're talking about. They're 3-1 on the road so far.

Like his generational peer Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan has spat in the face of Father Time by roaring to an excellent individual start. Youngsters Danny Green and Gary Neal have played well also, compensating for subpar production from Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili.

Enjoy the evening and GO LAKE SHOW.
