Kobe Bryant Update: Could Miss Season Opener

Tonight is the Lakers final preseason game, which Kobe Bryant has already been ruled out of with a severe strain in his foot. Collectively, as Lakers fans, that’s no big deal. It’s the preseason, let the man rest. The games that begin to matter start in less than a week, and surely Kobe will be ready by then. No way he’d miss opening night against a Dallas team that swept the Lakers two years ago. Not so fast, according to ESPN Los Angeles...

"I don't know if he'll be ready," Brown said after the Lakers 97-91 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday. "So yeah, I guess there is question. I'm just going to wait for Gary Vitti to tell me he can play because there's nothing I can do about it until they release him anyway."

The Lakers have been extremely veiled in their injury assessments this preseason, so there’s that to consider. Doomsday scenarios aside, we’ll just have to wait and hear what the status is. Thankfully there’s still a good stretch of time until opening night, and if the discomfort dies down, this should be a non issue. I mean, come on, Kobe Bryant would play if he had two peg legs.
