Feeling the pressure of being the target of Lakers' fans anger, and the butt of everyone else's jokes, Jim Buss sat down with The Los Angeles Times' TJ Simers to clear up some questions and do some 'splaining as to how and why the Lakers made their coaching decision and probably to publicly apologize to Kobe.
Here's a choice quote:
"Looking back on it, we should have contacted Kobe," Buss says. "Kobe said it was management's job to pick a coach. He just said, 'Defense first.' That's what we were doing, but we should have reached out to him."
Ya think? This might be a spin job to quell an angry mob, but still he's not completely oblivious. There are plenty of bad owners that don't think the fans and media deserve any explanations. We don't know if he's bad yet, but at least he's figured out this much. We'll see about the rest.
