Fiancée of Matt Barnes Says Domestic-Violence Accusations Are False

Gloria Govan is the fiancée of Lakers forward Matt Barnes. She is the alleged victim in the incident for which Barnes was arrested yesterday and charged, among other things, with felony domestic violence. The arrest took place at the home in Sacramento that she and Barnes share.

This afternoon, according to the Associated Press, Govan released a statement saying that the domestic-violence accusations against Barnes are false. She says that he has never physically abused her or her family. I won't pretend to know what effect her statements will have on the case. Interestingly, the summaries of Govan's statement that I've seen refer only to the domestic-violence accusations, and not to the charge that Barnes prevented her from using 911.
