" A new "renegotiation and extension" provision allows an existing contract to be renegotiated so the player is paid a smaller amount over a longer period, but the player's salary cannot decrease by more than 40 percent. Renegotiations previously could only increase a player's salary."

In a lot of ways, the Hornets and Orlando Magic are in a race to make a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers for Paul and Howard. They’re running so many scenarios across the big boards in their offices, but make no mistake: Los Angeles is the port that can entice Paul and Howard to sign extensions, with the one player – young center Andrew Bynum – as a centerpiece that can justify the trade. The Lakers and Hornets talked several days ago, league sources told Yahoo! Sports, but it was one of those circuitous conversations that left the sides unclear what it would take to get a deal done, and the talk ended with no formal offers. The Lakers and Hornets expect to speak again this week, sources said. The prospect of Pau Gasol as the primary player going to the Hornets won’t be acceptable, sources said. The Lakers will ultimately be willing to let New Orleans pick its player in the deal – Bynum or Gasol – but New Orleans is determined to get quality, and quantity, in a deal. Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski discussing the Lakers' interest in both Howard and Paul.

The Los Angeles Lakers are also expected to eventually lodge their own trade bid for Howard – featuring some combination of Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom – but the Nets appear poised to furnish Orlando with a young replacement for Howard in Lopez, two higher draft picks than the Lakers could presumably offer and the ability to shed Turkoglu’s expensive deal, which will enable Orlando to take another big rebuilding step.

I feel like, as a unit, we didn't do what it takes to keep Brian Shaw, and that's real disappointing. You can't forget where you're from. You can't forget what you've been through. You can't forget who helped you win a ring, who was there for you when you were frustrated or stressed out, and I've got to give credit to Brian Shaw for all of that. This doesn't mean I won't love Mike Brown. But for the next couple of months, I'm going to be disappointed about Brian Shaw. Ron Artest, in today's LA Times

Line is set at -7 for tonights game. Lakers have covered the line in 3 of the 7 games this post-season. In other words, Vegas has made a ton of money. -7 seems like a tough line for a team that lost game 1. Lakers can beat The Mavs by 10+ any game, but thats only if they feel like it(so sad to type that). Im betting they cover the line, but if i had to place a % of how confident am id say im 60%. Lakers by 7-9 points.
