The Los Angeles Lakers plan to work out Nigel Hayes Friday, according to Mike Bresnahan of Spectrum Sportsnet. Bresnahan reports that Hayes is just one of several players the Lakers will work out in the session.
Hayes, a 6’7 power forward, averaged 14 points and 6.6 rebounds during his senior season at Wisconsin, production that led Draft Express to rank him as the 78th best prospect available in the 2017 NBA Draft.
The Lakers are fairly crowded at power forward already and don’t currently have a pick in the second round, making it extremely unlikely the front office will select Hayes. However, the team could offer Hayes a spot on its Las Vegas Summer League roster with the opportunity to earn a training camp invite should he go unselected in the draft.
