Time Warner SportsNet sat down with Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak to discuss his thoughts on the Lakers locking in the No. 7 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, as well as the search for the next Lakers coach. Kupchak's insight on the draft isn't groundbreaking, but it's worth taking a peek into the window of where the front office is. He also reiterated that the team believes will still have an opportunity to draft a quality player after dropping one spot in the draft order.
Kupchak also downplayed the team being in a rush to sign a head coach, stating the Lakers would "like" to have the position sorted out by the draft on June 26 but also said it's "not something that has to take place." This is the second time in as many days that Kupchak danced around the question, each time coming off non-committal to having a new head coach to help the front office decide on what to do with the seventh-overall pick.
