Gasol to seek clearance for running drills

USA TODAY Sports

It's been four weeks since Pau Gasol was diagnosed with a plantar fascia tear, but Gasol will seek medical clearance to participate in running drills once the Lakers return home Thursday.

Pau Gasol has been out of action since tearing his plantar fascia for four entire weeks, but the Los Angeles Lakers' big man is getting closer to his return, and hopes to participate in running drills after the Lakers finish their road trip Wednesday night against the New Orleans Hornets, via Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News:

Lakers forward Pau Gasol told this newspaper he plans to seek medical clearance to participate in running drills once the Lakers return Thursday from a two-game trip.

After tearing his plantar fascia against the Brooklyn Nets, Gasol was sent back to Los Angeles for a second opinion after his initial diagnosis in Boston. It was confirmed in L.A. that Gasol would be out a "minimum" of six-to-eight weeks while recovering.

On his current status, Gasol said things "have been good", via Medina:

"Things have been good," said Gasol, who's expected to miss at least two to four more weeks. "No pain, a little bit of stiffness."

On February 26th it was reported that Gasol was off of crutches, and it appears he is ready to finish out his next few weeks of recovery strong. He has missed 12 games since suffering the injury.
