Mike D'Antoni and Mitch Kupchak will meet Sunday in Miami to discuss the status of the Lakers injury ravaged roster. Jordan Hill is out for the season, Pau Gasol is looking at at least six weeks of downtime, Dwight Howard is day-to-day with his shoulder and could easily aggravate it when he gets back on the court, and Robert Sacre is their only true backup big. Mark Medina reports that the two will discuss plans going forward.
But with it remaining uncertain when Pau Gasol will return from a torn plantar fascia of his right foot, D’Antoni said he will meet with Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak fairly soon about the team’s personnel.
“We’ll get together in Miami probably and we’ll see how it goes,” D’Antoni said. - Mark Medina, L.A. Daily News
The Lakers were granted the disabled player exception they applied for in regards to Jordan Hill's season ending injury, which gives them a $1.88 million exception that can be used to sign a free agent or in a trade just a few weeks ago. Mitch Kupchak recently indicated that the Lakers had no intention of making a trade with any of their principal players, and the trade deadline is February 21st.
