The Lakers made a move to address their depleted point guard depth.

UPDATE (12/20. 2:10 p.m. ET): The Lakers officially announced the signing of Kendall Marhsall, via Twitte. He is expected to play tonight off the bench and Xavier Henry will line up as the starting point guard, reports Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News.

The Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to sign former 2012 first-round draft pick Kendall Marshall, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports. The Lakers were down to zero healthy point guards on the roster. Marshall was traded by the Phoenix Suns this summer when they sent Marcin Gortat to the Washington Wizards, only to be immediately waived by Washington.

The Philadelphia 76ers D-league affiliate, the Delaware 87ers, claimed Marshall off of waivers once he decided to join the D-league in an effort to re-join the league. Marshall has averaged 19.4 points and 9.6 assists in seven games played with the 87ers.

Marshall averaged three points and three assists per game through his rookie season and struggled to break into the Suns' rotation. He appeared in 48 games for a total of 702 minutes. The move to add a point guards comes hours after the team announced Kobe Bryant would be out a minimum of six weeks with a knee fracture. Bryant had been the team's stand-in point guard while the team expects Jordan Farmar to be out at least one more week.

Details of the deal were not immediately available.
